I remember reading about this when I was there in May ’06. Thank you for the VDO. The story in the paper said they were going for the biggest rocket and when it took off, it went sideways and ended up hitting a farmers parked pickup truck a few kilometres away. I’m sure they would have helped out to fix it.

This is only a small part of a raucous three day festival. Bun Bang Fai! I just got back from an Asian trip an feel so fortunate to have been invited by Isaan gals in Bangkok to join them and their families. These festivals take place in towns all over Isaan during May. Three days of drinking, dancing, honoring the buddhist monks, getting covered with mud or otherwise trashed, and shooting rockets! How does it get better than that? LOL

its one of the better fesivals i’ve had the pleasure to experience. i would like to see it again, when the weather is clearer, just to see how high these rockets do go.
this year was funny, as only 2 falang brought a thai bodyguard with a gun. i guess these guys took the wrong meaning when someone said the festival is dangerous. LOL

I went to Nongkhai last year during Bangfai…was really nice, I really recommend going there. But be careful cause those damn rockets can explode before lift off.
