This is Lum Gawn. It’s a type poetry sang by a Morlum or Lao Folk singer. Lum Gawn follows the Lum Tang Sun scale. One popular form of Lum Gawn is “Lum Gio” which is a type of poetry about courtship. The man tries to flirt with a lady or vice versa. They also tell stories of where they are from and what kind of life they have had so far. The khaen is a bamboo mouth organ from Laos and is played in Northeast Thailand.

This is thought to be the oldest of the Lai khaen. The Lai khaen consists of Lai Po Sai, Lai Sootsanaen, Lai Soi, Lai Noi, Lai Nyai, and Lai Se.
