Lao/Thai are Austronesian people, Khmer/Vietnamese are Mon-Khmer people, Lao, Thai, and Khmer peoples tradition, culture, and religion were influenced by India, Vietnamese on the other hand was influenced by China, China has 56 ethnic groups non which are Khmer...China has Tai-Kadai and Thai people as an ethnic group, Khmer people didn't come from China, Khmer people are a mixture of different nationalities and ethnicities, Indian, Chinese, Malay, and other groups Thai, Lao, Viet, Burmese, Cham
